2018 Spring League Week 5

Mr. Rogers Neighborhood

Looks like it’ll be clear sailing for the 2nd half of our season with no rain last week or for the remaining 2 weeks. This week will conclude the regular season, and the Bowl Committee will determine the Bowl match-ups for next week after the results are in for this week. There are some interesting cross-divisional games this week PWO/Bertolotti and Young Gunz/Bull Gerbil.

-It’s been fun watching some new teams join the JFFL that are starting out playing at a B+/A- level…look for Bull Gerbil, Bertolotti Disposal, Real Deal and Wild Dogs to only get better and play ‘A’ level ball as they continue to play and improve.

-TagEm, Crisis, LB Ballers and Terror Squad all have a shot at winning the Charlie Division depending on results from this week’s games, we’ll see who’s at the top once all the smoke clears.

Games to Watch

9:00am (1-3)LB Ballers vs (3-1)Terror Squad+1

Terror Squad sits atop the Charlie Division and can win the division outright with a win over last Winter’s Charlie champions. LB Ballers have had a tough schedule so far and can win the Charlie Div. with a win and help with TagEm and Crisis loses.

11:30am (2-2)Young Gunz vs (4-0)Bull Gerbil+3

Young Gunz has had an up and down season with some wild swings in scores. They are one of the elite teams. Bull Gerbil is a new (just started in Winter), but has accumulated 8-2 record in the JFFL so far (only losses to JFFL champions Team Elite and Jokers so far).

2:00pm (3-1)Team Elite vs (3-1)Prime Time+1

This is the final play-in game for A-Class teams to determine who plays in the JFFL Bowl. The winner must win the season series. PT beat TE 31-7 earlier in season, so TE must win by 24pts to win the season series(the 17pt mercy rule is waived in this game). TE won the Fall League JFFL Bowl, PT is new(started in Winter) but has always played at a high level.

3:15pm (0-4)PWO vs (4-0)Bertolotti Disposal+1

Don’t let the record fool you, PWO is the best 0-4 team in the history of flag football in this region. The Summer League JFFL Bowl winners played a tough A-class schedule, losing 3 games by 6 pts each. BD is new, but has had some wins against quality opponents and has played ‘A’ level ball so far. We’ll see how the newcomers fare against the long-time veterans.

6:00pm (3-1)Jokers vs (2-2)Real Deal+1

Real Deal’s first year in the JFFL has had some close games against good opponents. They have continued to improve as the season has went along and won their last 2 games. Expect to see a close game here against the veteran Jokers.

UPSET OF THE WEEK

TagEmBagEm+6 beat undefeated Terror Squad and Real Deal+3 won a close 13-12 game with Wild Dogs.

Crazy Game

Wild Dogs/Real Deal was close and competitive the entire game. Wasn’t decided until the final whistle. Wouldn’t mind seeing these two play again at some point.
